Public Policy


Generations Together contributes to the discussion and formulation of public policy related to intergenerational issues. GT is represented on state and national policy-making bodies such as:
  • The Pennsylvania Governor's Commission on Children and Families.
  • The Pennsylvania delegation to the 1995 White House Conference on Aging.
  • The advisory board of Generations United.
  • The Collegiate Service Learning Fellows.
Generations Together has promoted and supported public policy initiatives through activities
that include:
  • Sponsorship of a 1994 mini-White House Conference on Aging that examined older adults as community resources.
  • Participation on a national task force to initiate intergenerational mentoring legislation.
  • Presentation of public addresses endorsing state, local, and federal intergenerational legislation.
  • Publication of the national newsletter Exchange, whose readership of 10,000 includes practitioners, administrators, academics, and public policy makers interested in the intergenerational field.
