Generations Together is committed to developing a high level of professionalism and competency in intergenerational studies. To assure the highest academic and professional standards,
Generations Together:
  • Convenes an annual training institute to increase professionals' administrative, program development, and evaluation skills.
  • Examines the competencies needed for professional growth in the intergenerational field.
  • Develops and teaches courses that prepare students for careers in the intergenerational field.
  • Collaborates with faculty to increase interest in and commitment to intergenerational studies among colleges and universities.
  • Networks with faculty and students to research fundamental questions related to the development, outcomes, and future of intergenerational programs.
  • Collaborates in research projects that investigate issues and questions related to intergenerational studies.
  • Gathers and disseminates material -- locally and nationally -- to increase the availability of information for professionals and academics.
  • Generates information on the availability of intergenerational options in higher education.
  • Maintains a resource center of intergenerational materials used by practitioners, students, and academics.
  • Supports public policy efforts that promote intergenerational studies.
  • Supports intergenerational studies through courses, community outreach activities, and research in higher education.
